The main purpose of any door viewer is to be able to identify a visitor at the door and the inside person should be able to make the decision to open the door, or not to open the door by viewing the visitor. If the resident cannot see a visitor while attempting to view through the door viewer due to the visitor hiding or avoiding the viewing radius then the resident does not have to open the door.
