Located in Clay Center, Kansas, this eight story building was built in 1971 and consisted of 92 small efficiency and one bedroom units. The small units has made it very difficult to lease, and as a result, experienced a high vacancy near 50%. The Clay Center Housing Authority engaged HSA to help develop a plan to mitigate the high vacancies. A new plan was developed and approved by HUD that reconfigures the 92 small units into 51 large one and two bedroom apartments. This $5.7 million reconfiguration/rehabilitation effort was completed in 2011.
